Making Career Decisions During a Time of Tech Layoffs and AI
It’s a strange time for developers, with the double threat of https://thenewstack.io/tech-works-layoffs-a-ticking-time-bomb-for-your-h-1b-visa/ and https://thenewstack.io/generative-ai-how-companies-are-using-and-scaling-ai-models/ causing an almost https://thenewstack.io/the-end-of-programming-is-nigh/. In times like these, it’s useful to know how industry veterans are tackling these challenges.
Disclosure: I first met Robbie as a young colleague in British Telecom (BT), so this was also a great chance to catch up!
Pivotal Labs was a consultancy (it has since been acquired by VMware and is now known as VMware Tanzu Labs) and as such was client facing.
Early cloud has been good for us, as we have seen it from Heroku and Cloud Foundry upwards.
