https://www.linkedin.com/in/dwellington/ In the past decade, AWS re:Invent has become the biggest event of the year, at least for anybody working on, or even near, the cloud. This year, it felt even bigger, because we had all missed having an in-person event last year.

Instead, new AWS CEO https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamselipsky/ put his stamp on the event with a very different sort of keynote, focusing much more on storytelling in general and on AWS customer stories in particular. The lack of blockbuster announcements meant it was difficult to find the theme of re:Invent this year.

Most real-world examples, and even AWS’ own reference architectures, feature several different databases — often connected together by a service named, appropriately enough, AWS Glue.
