In Las Vegas yesterday, at its annual https://www.snowflake.com/summit/ event, cloud data leader Snowflake is making a full slate of product announcements. All in all, the announcements, Snowflake’s recent acquisitions and its strategy are emblematic of its earnest aspirations to build a complete cloud application platform, albeit a data-centric one.
Along with that, the company is announcing Native Apps on https://www.snowflake.com/en/data-cloud/marketplace/, providing a monetization and delivery platform for developers.
Snowflake Native Apps allow Snowflake assets to be packaged up and made available as standalone apps.
Beyond Native Apps, there’s new stuff in https://www.snowflake.com/en/data-cloud/snowpark/which provides a DataFrame API for working with Snowflake data, using code that runs in the customer’s Snowflake environment.
