The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen is one of the most beloved children’s stories of all time. It’s not until the end of the story that we find out the “ugly” duckling was actually a beautiful swan!

peter-pan had an internal type that it used for this purpose, so it made sense to adapt it so that it was more globally useful.

Now that peter-pan was on its way to becoming a lightweight event broker, it was time to re-examine how it handled failure.

Conway’s Law theorizes that the “shape” of a software system imitates the structure of the organization that owns it, and peter-pan’s refactor is a perfect example of that concept in practice.
