No longer considered an ephemeral concept as it originally was, data management has become a huge issue and challenge, especially for managing stateless data in Kubernetes environments. The state of data management was the subject of discussion in this edition of The New Stack Makers podcast, hosted by Alex Williams, founder and publisher of The New Stack.

Both Cade and Poulton were also involved in the organization of Cloud Native Data Management Day, a co-event held in conjunction with the KubeCon+CloudNativeCon EU last month.

Cloud Native Management Day is a reflection of where the technology is at, at the moment — we’re at a point where we can do more than just talk about stuff. We can actually put the rubber to the road sometimes with this data management in the context of containers and Kubernetes,” said Poulton.

While data management with containers on Kubernetes is “new to just about everybody, what I think is really interesting is that a lot of the companies are coming to the party now in the data-management space,” said Poulton.
