Our three presentations for the evening are as follows:

WorkSafeBC’s DevOps Journey:
Andre Kaminski - Director, DevOps at WorkSafeBC

In May 2017, WorkSafeBC initiated a transformation with its first DevOps team. Today there are 10 teams working on direct business value delivery, with another 6 teams supporting them. In his presentation, Andre will share the experiences so far, challenges, and the road forward.

Hackathons! Innovation, Insights & Ideas:
Kyle Young – Lead Developer at Unbounce
& Sangeeta Ben – Senior Scrum Master at WorkSafeBC

Loathe it, love it or like it, Facebook innovated the "like" button in a hackathon. Hackathons are a proving ground for innovative new ideas, collaboration and breaking through siloes. Feature Flag All the Things!:
Owen Rogers - Director of Ecommerce at Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC)

Owen will discuss how the team at MEC is fanatical about feature flags. Every change to mec.ca is wrapped in a feature flag. This enables MEC to continuously deliver value to their customers without compromising site reliability. Feature flagging also allows MEC to incrementally roll out features and conduct split tests. In this presentation, Owen will share his experiences and lessons learned applying this approach.

Bio: Owen Rogers has over 25 years’ experience in the software industry, working with startups, Fortune 500 corporations and everything in between. He is an Agile evangelist, coaching teams to streamline software delivery since the early days of XP. Owen runs Exortech Consulting, helping teams deliver better software faster.
