Kubernauts,

Summer is gone before it even arrived, but Kubernetes London Meetup is back!

Since London has not blessed us with much heat this year we will try to make up for it by flaring clouds at Cloudflare!

Please join us on 24th September for a bunch of great talks we've lined up for you! We will see that Edge computing and Kubernetes can play along. Viktor, the speaker of this talk claims this is an IoT talk, not Lady Gaga song about K8s. We will then dive into ever so increasing space of Kubernetes tooling by the one and only Gareth Rushgrove. In particular, we will look into Open Policy Agent and its importance especially when it comes to security and compliance. Finally, we'll finish the night by a talk about Cloud Native delivery platforms, the thing everyone seems to be building, given by Lewis Marshall from Appvia!

This event would not be possible without our marvellous sponsors: OpenShift and Cloudflare. Let's give them a round of virtual applause (**silent roar**).

Agenda:

6:30 - 7:00 Socialise, make friends, eat, drink and be merry.
7:00 - 7:25 IoT on the Edge with Kubernetes, by Viktor Petersson, https://wott.io
7:30 - 7:55 Cloud Native Development, by Gareth Rushgrove, Snyk
7:55 - 8:15 break
8:15 - 8:45 Best Practice Application Delivery in a Cloud Native World
by Lewis Marshal, Appvia.io

Name: Viktor Petersson
Title: Living on the Edge (k8s+IoT)
Bio: Viktor is a serial entrepreneur, founder of Screenly and most recently https://wott.io. Viktor has been involved in IoT and Edge computing since the dawn of IoT ages. When not tinkering with his RPi lab at home he enjoys swimming in natural lakes in Sweden and running [half] marathons.

Abstract: Kubernetes has become a fundamental building block of the modern infrastructure. We've seen a lot of talk about securing communication within the cluster with projects like Istio, but how do you apply the same principals when it comes to ingress (such as data from an IoT/Edge device)?

In this talk, Viktor will:
* Show you how to configure Nginx Ingress with Mutual TLS (mTLS)
* Ship data into a cluster from an edge device (such as a Raspberry Pi)

Name: Gareth Rushgrove
Title: Cloud Native Development
Bio: Gareth does not need much intro but let's try anyways! He is currently working as a Director of Product Management at Snyk, the company on a mission is to help developers use open source code and stay secure. He runs the popular DevOps Weekly newsletter and develops a whole bunch of OSS tools, such as https://instrumenta.dev.

Abstract: TBD

Name: Lewis Marshall
Title: Best Practice Application Delivery in a Cloud Native World

Bio: Lewis is SRE and Tech Evangelist (appvia.io). With 28 years of software and infrastructure experience; He has worked his way from x86 Assembly all the way to Golang and Kubernetes. Also a space geek with a
OneWheel!

Abstract: From infrastructure to CloudNative, the benefits of reducing the complexity for developers. As the app delivery landscape changes what are the new challenges for an organisation?
