"Making screen recording a reality with just JavaScript"

Abstract:

Is it possible to make a screen recording that captures a website directly from its DOM instead of capturing pixels on your screen? Turns out yes and we made a way to do it. It's called Capsule.
I'll go over this mind-blowing tool that produces recordings that look like videos, but behave like websites. These are videos that you can actually interact with.
I'll cover some of what went into both the frontend and backend to make a tool like this work.

----

Jean Lange to present:

"Code Retreat!"

Global Day of Code Retreat is on November 7th! What is this thing and why should you spend hours of your Saturday doing it?

Matt McHenry to present:

"Wrangling JSON with jid and jq"

Abstract:

JavaScript Object Notation: We've all heard of it. Most of us deal
with it every workday. Something that ubiquitous deserves its own
dedicated power tools. This talk introduces two of the most popular.

The JSON Incremental Digger, jid, is the perfect tool for visually
exploring the structure of an unfamiliar JSON document. https://github.com/simeji/jid

jq is a powerful tool for processing JSON documents. It can be used
to search for parts of a large document with particular
characteristics; transform one or many input documents into a new
output document; produce new documents from scratch; and more. https://stedolan.github.io/jq/

Attendees will leave with a clear sense of how these tools can make
their daily interactions with JSON more pleasant and efficient.
